Thoughts
Some say the world will end in fire,
Some say in ice.
From what I've tasted of desire
I hold with those who favor fire.
But if it had to perish twice,
I think I know enough of hate
To say that for destruction ice
Is also great
And would suffice.

This is one of my all time poems. Yes I do read poems and actually love reading poems. With everything that has gone on the in world today I read this poem and wonder. The world has so much hate. Take the genocide in Darfur for instance. A country in Africa has been left for ruins and continuous fighting for going on 8 years now. Is any attention paid to it at all? No unless you follow his truly George Clooney. But a Tsunami happens in Japan and the world stands still. Yes it is a huge disaster with over 10K people feared dead. But guess how many innocent people have died in Darfur? In 2004 alone over 50K had died in Darfur. Yet no public outcry, none of this donate now, or text this number to donate. While I am deeply saddened for those who have lost loved ones in Japan I feel no remorse in saying I will not donate to the humanitarian cause for Japan. I will continue to fight for those who are fighting just to live in Africa though. Japan will rebuild, the same can not be said for the countries in Africa though.
Those who have innocently died in Africa had no decision on how they wanted to die. Some died while being rapped. I am talking about young girls not even the age of six. Dying while being rapped. If and when the world ends it might come as comfort to those who have been forgotten about and cast off. However when the world ends for me I want to suffer just as bad as the ones who have been forgotten.

ReplyDeleteAnd what an interesting take on the end times. It's very true that Africa always take the back seat in the news. My heart always goes out to them. There's a video in my blog about Bangladesh for the Uncultured Project. We need to team up and go over there eventually.
I just reread my comment and ralized it sounded like Bangladesh is a country in Africa.. Which I know it's in Asia. Just wanted to clear that up. :)
